Weekend Round-Up – 21st October 2013

England – Arsenal maintained their lead at the top of the table after a 4-1 victory over Norwich. Samuel Eto’o scored his first goal for Chelsea as they overcame Cardiff to sit second in the Premier League. Manchester United failed to see off Southampton at Old Trafford, with it finishing 1-1 thanks to a late goal from Adam Lallana.

Spain – Barcelona failed to beat Osasuna, as the game finished 0-0. Goals from Ronaldo and Di Maria, saw Real over the line against Malaga. Atletico Madrid, dropped points as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat, away at Espanyol.

Italy – Roma have opened a five point lead at the top of Serie A. They beat second placed Napoli, whilst Juventus lost 4-2 to Fiorentina. Roma have now won eight out of eight.

Germany – Bayern Munich came back from a goal down to beat Mainz 4-1. Dortmund recorded a 1-0 over Hannover. Leverkusen also won, meaning that the top three are now at least seven points clear of the chasing pack.

France – Goals from both Ibrahimovic and Cavani, meant PSG went top of the Ligue 1, at least until the Monaco game. However, Monaco threw away a two goal lead, to draw 2-2 with Sochaux.

Argentina – Top of the league Newell’s Old Boys lost to Rosario Central to halt their title challenge, they do however remain three points clear of San Lorenzo.

Brazil – Cruzeiro lose, but the rest of the top four fail to win, meaning not much has changed at the top of the table.

Japan – Yokohama remain top, whilst a Sanfreece loss means Urawa Red’s are now in second place.
