Talk of the Turnstile, brought to you by our Feature Editor Dominic Hanley
Welcome to another edition of Talk of the Turnstile, bringing a weekly round up of all things football and SoccerStarz!
Who’d have thought that from being 3-0 in front with just 11 minutes to go would end in a 3-3 draw that would effectively cost Liverpool the title. Whilst it isn’t over until this Sunday, they are now relying on other results for them to win the league. Manchester City took 60-odd minutes to score against Aston Villa, but once they had the floodgates opened as they won 4-0 and took a major step towards the title.
World Cup only 32 days away!!!!
The England squad is due to be picked this coming Monday and already Roy Hodgson is missing some key individuals from the qualifying stage. Theo Walcott, Jay Rodriguez and Andros Townsend will all be absent from Brazil due to injury. Kyle Walker and Phil Jones are also doubts thanks to a hip injury and a shoulder injury respectively. Read about the squad @dominiho7 picked here
With the World Cup not far away, plenty of squads are being picked and there are bound to be some surprises. Brazil left out Kaka’ and Ronaldinho whilst Germany didn’t pick Mario Gomez.
You thought that the Premier League has been a bumpy ride, for the first time in a while neither Real Madrid or Barcelona are top of the La Liga table at this point in the season, and with Atletico riding high at the top it could be the first time the league title goes away from the big two since Valencia won it in 2003/04. With just two games each left to play, Atleti are top by 3 points, with Barca in second and Real a further point behind in third. Oh and by the way, if you weren’t already drooling Barca travel to the Vicente Calderon to face Atletico on the final day of the season.
